Open Draft is a research colloquium focusing on open-ended questions. We invite researchers and practitioners across the HfG & ZKM to present their ongoing research projects.
What are you curious about right now? What are some the ideas that you are toying with? What presentation formats are you trying out? What dead-ends are you looking for a way out of?
We convene monthly at the HfG to offer a space to exchange, workshop and bounce ideas across disciplines and career stages.
All sessions take place at the Lichtbrücke and start at 18:00.
Prof. Paul Bailey (HfG) will perform an active essay drawn from his intermittent PhD research on the visual essay as a critical instrument within/through contemporary practices of communication design. Taking Meeting Grounds: Essay as Event as its point of departure — gatherings at Centre for Other Worlds (PT), Kunsthal Gent (BE), Camden Arts Centre (UK), and ZKM Pavillon (DE) with Brian Dillon, Ima-Abasi Okon, Katja Mater, Metahaven, Kameelah Janan Rasheed, and Dayna Casey — the presentation will explore modes of essaying that are active, wayward, incomplete, relational, and resolutely ongoing.
